JNU Eligibility CriteriaJNU Eligibility Criteria 2017 - Jawaharlal Nehru University has announced eligibility criteria for JNU 2017 on March 21, 2017 along with application form of JNU. The eligibility criteria of JNU admissions 2017 mentions academic qualification i.e. Subject and qualifying marks required for admission to a programme. JNU conducts entrance exam for admissions to postgraduate programmes including Arts Science, Social Sciences as offered in various Specialisations at departments and Schools of JNU. of the university. Candidates applying for JNU admissions 2017 must check eligibility criteria before filling up the application form of JNU 2017. Candidates must note that if at any he/she is found ineligible for admission to concerned programme, his/her admission will be cancelled right away. Check below detailed eligibility criteria for each postgraduate programme of JNU -

M.A. in Politics (with specialization in International Studies)

  • Candidates need to have completed their graduation in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern

  • Candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks in the qualifying degree examination

M.A. in Economics (with Specialization in World Economy)

  • Candidates need to have a Bachelor Degree in Economics (Honours) with Mathematics as an additional subject

  • Candidates holding Bachelor degree in Mathematics (Honours) with Economics as ab additional subject are also eligible or bachelor degree in Statistics (Honours) with Mathematics and Economics as subsidiary subjects under 10+2+3 education pattern securing at least 50% marks in aggregate are also eligible

M.A. in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Hindi, Korean, Linguistics, Persian, Russian, Spanish and Urdu –

  • For English and Linguistics, candidates must have a undergraduate degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern with at least 50% marks in aggregate

  • For German, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern securing at least 50% marks in aggregate with adequate proficiency in German language

  • For languages other than English, Linguistics and German, candidates should have bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern securing at least 45% marks in aggregate with adequate proficiency in the language programme concerned

M.A. in Economic, Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology, Philosophy and Development & Labour Studies –

  • For Geography and Sociology, candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 academic pattern securing at least 45% marks in aggregate of all subjects

  • For Economics, candidates must have a Bachelor Degree in any discipline securing at least 50% marks in aggregate, with knowledge of Mathematics at 10+2 level

  • For Political Science, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern securing at least 50% marks in aggregate of Social Sciences subjects and at least 55% marks in aggregate of Science & Technology subjects

  • For History and Development & Labour Studies, candidates need to have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern securing at least 50% marks in aggregate of the subjects

M.Sc in Life Sciences –

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor Degree either B.Sc. /B.Tech or Equivalent in Biological/Physical/Agricultural Sciences or Biotechnology stream from any state or central recognised Institute/University

  • Candidates must have obtained at least 55% marks in aggregate of all subjects

M.Sc in Environmental Sciences –

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Basic or Applied Sciences under 10+2+3 education pattern from school/Institute/University as recognised at state or national level

  • Candidates need to have secured at least 55% marks in aggregate of subjects of qualifying degree examination

MCA (Masters in Computer Applications) –

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern from any state or Nationally recognised Institute or University

  • Candidates must be competent adequately with at least 55% marks at graduation level in aggregate of all subjects

M.Sc in Physics –

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree with Physics as one of the subjects in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern securing at least 55% marks in aggregate

  • Candidates who have qualified Bachelor’s Degree either with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined or in Physics Honours or with B.Tech in Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical/Computer are also eligible

M.A. in Arts and Aesthetics – 

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 academic pattern

  • Candidates need to have obtained minimum 50% marks to be eligible for admissions

M.A. in Sanskrit –

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sanskrit or in any subject under 10+2+3 education pattern from any recognised Institute or University

  • Candidates need to have obtained at least 45% marks for admissions to M.A in Sanskrit

Jawaharlal Nehru University will be conducting JNUEE 2017 for admissions to as many as 37 postgraduate programmes offered at School of Arts and Aesthetics, School of Biotechnology, School of Computational and Integrative Sciences, School of Computer & Systems Sciences, and School of Environmental Sciences, besides School of International Studies, School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies, School of Life Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, School of Life Sciences, School of Social Sciences, Centre for Molecular Medicine and Centre for Sanskrit Studies.
